Ranked Choice Voting Qualifies for Benton County Ballot

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Voters in Benton County could be the first in the state to adopt a new voting style. --Tuesday, a group turned in enough signatures to put a measure on the November ballot for Ranked Choice Voting. --Instead of voting for just one candidate, Ranked Choice Voting ranks candidates in order of preference. It's being used in a number of other cities, including San Francisco and Minneapolis, and by the OSU Student Government. --It's a process that supporters said gives more power to voters. --Tuesday morning, the Better Ballots for Benton County campaign [check out the supporters] turned in more than 4,500 signatures for Rank Choice Voting, that's about 1,700 more than was needed to get the initiative on the ballot.
