It seems, because he’s the last man standing to challenge businessman Donald Trump (from at least getting the 1,237 delegates Mr. Trump needs to clinch the GOP nomination), Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is now considered part of the establishment.

Herman Cain: Donald Trump Should Be Emulated, Not Stopped

In an op-ed on Sunday, Herman Cain expressed that Donald Trump is doing something that the establishment Republicans have failed to do, and that leadership shouldn’t be making an effort to prevent him from taking the nomination. Instead, Cain opines, leadership should address the concerns of the people, and actually make progress on the issues they use as talking points — something he says conservatives have failed to do.

Why the GOP Establishment Hasn't Yet Mobilized Behind Rubio

More than a month ago, Paul Singer, a billionaire hedge fund manager and one of the biggest donors to Republican candidates and causes in 2014, publicly endorsed Marco Rubio and urged others in the party to get back the Florida senator as well.  The endorsement, which the New York Times put on its front page, was interpreted as a sign that the Republican Party establishment was getting behind Rubio as the man to stop Donald Trump.

Bernie Sanders spinning lack of Senate support as a positive

Sen. Bernie Sanders claimed Monday that his inability to win a single endorsement from his Democratic Senate colleagues is actually a plus.
Having no support among the sitting senators shows he's not part of "the establishment," compared with Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has 31 Senate endorsements, he claimed.
