Lindsey Graham Drops Out of 2016 Republican Presidential Race

Republican presidential candidate Lindsey Graham is dropping out of the 2016 race for the White House.
The South Carolina senator, who revealed the news in a CNN interview Monday morning, is the fourth GOP contender to drop out of the race, following Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. The move leaves 13 candidates remaining in the race for the Republican nod.

Lindsey Graham on Thursday delivered a scathing rebuke of Republican candidates — especially Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump — for alienating Hispanic and female voters with “hard-ass” policies and hateful rhetoric.

Lindsey Graham: How am I losing to Trump and Carson?

A frustrated Sen. Lindsey Graham said Monday he can’t believe he’s so far behind in the Republican presidential race, with just 1 percent in polls — when Donald Trump is “crazy as hell,” and Ben Carson once “tried to kill someone.”
Carson recalled his hot-tempered childhood on “Meet the Press” Sunday, saying he “would go after people with rocks, and bricks and baseball bats and hammers. And . . . when I was 14 I tried to stab someone.” That was too much for Graham, who consistently polls at the bottom of the GOP pack, way behind co-leaders Trump and Carson.

It’s tough being Lindsey Graham. The South Carolina senator has been running for president for almost four months now, and all he has to show for it is a 0.2 percent average in national polls, putting him at the bottom of the crowded field. (The only candidate he’s managed to out-campaign so far is Jim Gilmore, who isn’t actually campaigning.)
Graham has spent the entirety of his career in Congress building himself up as a hawkish expert on national security issues, and he’s been overshadowed completely by his equally hawkish sprat of a colleague, Marco Rubio.

SC GOP voters prefer Trump, Carson; most say Graham should drop out

Most S.C. Republican primary voters want a president with no prior elected political experience, according to a new poll released Tuesday to The State.
A Public Policy Polling survey found Donald Trump would win 37 percent of the vote from S.C. Republicans and Ben Carson would pick up 21 percent. The rest of the crowded GOP field of 17 candidates was struggling in the single digits.

Of all the candidates vying to become the nation’s next commander in chief, none has spent as much time in the military as Sen. Lindsey O. Graham. The South Carolina Republican retired from the Air Force this summer after a 33-year career, including two decades as a reservist while serving in Congress.
Graham is running as a ­national-security hawk, calling himself a “battle-tested leader” with “a lifetime of military service.” Images of him wearing camouflage in the field are a common thread in his campaign.
But a detailed examination of Graham’s military record — much of it obtained under the Freedom of Information Act — shows that the Air Force afforded him special treatment as a lawmaker, granting him the privileges of rank with few expectations in return.

Republican presidential candidate unloads on Fox News during Fox News interview

Presidential candidate and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) is furious about Fox News' rules for the first GOP primary debate.
In a Fox News interview on Friday, Graham blasted the right-leaning network's "dumb" rules, which will limit the participants to 10 candidates polling the best in an average of the five most recent national polls.
"I think that this is a dumb way to weed out the field," Graham declared.

The Anti-Rand Paul Primary

Call it the anti-Rand primary.
There are at least three Republicans who seem likely to run for president in part so they can attack Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s libertarian-leaning foreign policy stances on the campaign trail.
These anti-Rand candidates — South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton and New York Rep. Peter King — are ramping up their criticism especially now that Paul has officially entered the race for the White House.
All three are the longest of long shots when it comes to actually winning their party’s nomination. But each of them — national security hawks who dismissively label Paul an “isolationist” — could cause issues for the senator by attacking his more restrained foreign policy views during nationally televised debates.
