The influential California Republican Assembly on Sunday endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president. Cruz received the required two-thirds majority on the first ballot at the group's convention in Buena Park, the first time in 20 years a first-ballot endorsement for president has been made, according to California Republican Assembly President Tom Hudson.

Rep. Mark Meadows, the North Carolina Republican who led the charge to oust former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) last year, is endorsing Ted Cruz for president. Rick Perry endorses Ted Cruz

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night. Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.

Sanders campaign endorsed by MoveOn.org

     Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Tuesday received the endorsement of MoveOn.org, a grassroots organization that has been at the forefront of liberal causes.      MoveOn says the Vermont senator was supported by 78.6 percent of its membership in an online vote of more than 340,000 members. Hillary Clinton received 14.6 percent and Martin O'Malley received 0.9 percent with the remaining members urging no endorsement.

     House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz will endorse Marco Rubio for president, according to a source familiar with his plans.
     The Utah Republican, whose national profile is growing due to his role atop the House’s chief investigative committee, plans to campaign with Rubio in New Hampshire at a town hall in Concord on Friday, the source said.
